I feel like I am crossing a line commenting on this thread. As an American I have no business telling the people in Canada how to react to thier military. As a former brother in arms,I feel as though I have to say something in the defense of the brave Canadian special forces. When I first read this article,I was all pumped up.I had a good condratulation post prepared for the men and women of Canada's special forces. They deserve it,many times over. Then I started reading the comments after the article.I was totally disgusted at all the anti-military comments contained in the thread.Comments about how some soldiers went to Afganistan mearly for the money.I don't know about the CF,but no one ever ASKED me to do shit in the U.S. military.I was TOLD what to do.Post after post putting down the highly trained professionals of the Canadian special forces.I was a regular tech in the Air Force, and light years away from any countries special forces. To hear these professionals described as murderers and mercenarys is really just to much.If it had been the exception rather than the rule I would have let it go.Who is is this "the star.com"? It is one thing to oppose a war,or military action.Quite another to put down the dedicated fighting men and women of your own country.

I have always maintained that we may not have the biggest military, but when it comes to training, we have the best.
The star.com is the Toronto's Star's online "newspaper".
I bet many of these readers who think of our soldiers as beloved peacekeepers don't realize that even in THAT role, they have killed other combatants.
Unfortunately, too many idiots in Toronto think the army should only be used to shovel Toronto out of major dumpings of snow, or sing Kum-By-Ah to the two sides they're trying to keep the peace between. Or act as police officers in 3rd world disaster areas.

What does Toronto have to do with idiots who think soldiers should only be used at home? Why is it that idiots like you blame Toronto for everything? It's a Toronto news paper who published a fantastic story about the CF not a Alberta or w/e you're from Newspaper. It also cannot control who views there articles and comments on them which btw isn't nearly pure Toronto citizens. Fact based on the fact that everybody on this site who is from all over Canada and around the world will be using that source to view this article. So any one of those idiot comment posters could be some citizen from your province or city, shit he could be your next door neighbour and grandma for all you know. Stop talking shit about Toronto.

If you want some genuine laughs try reading some of the comments at the Calgary Herald or Calgary SUN websites. If almost makes the Beck-heads down south look like geniuses by comparison.

No worries rick, The Toronto Star is one of , if not Canada's leading left wing newspaper. I use the term "newspaper" lightly. Alot of us here support our troops unfortunately majority of media outlets in Canada are left leaning.

They're so left I.E. If the Toronot 18 had gotten their way with the Canadian version of 911, this same newspaper would some how lay blame to our neighbors to the south and the same people commenting in this article would no doubt champion that perspective, instead of laying blame to the 18 Canadians at home who fell into a radical way of thinking that lead to the deaths of 1000's of thei "fellow" civilian Canadians

So it's ok for you to bash Quebec.

But no one should even dare talking about anything related to your city. Perhaps it would be better not to comment any further.

Yea, Wainwright was a far bigger fear then Gagetown or Pet when I asked to go RCD.

Wonder how hard it would be to switch to reserves after tour and go BCR or BCD full time till I can get into school.

And Sapper, you don't happen to frequent 4chan do you? :P

Bash Quebec? By telling them to put there money where there sepretist mouth is, is not bashing the Province of Quebec. By bashing a certon % of quebecers who are sepretists. Accusing all of Toronto of bashing our troops because of one article from a Toronto online news article is far different.

Toronto/416 area is hardly a bastion of the CF. The Star is hardly a usual proponent of our military's newfound robustness.
Toronto is at the centre of Canada's left wing world and the Star is the far-lefts mouth piece.
Toronto may be the biggest city by far in this country but more CF recruits come from NFLD than the GTA.

Got exposed to them playing CyberNations. They had an Alliance called /b/ and caused a fair bit of mayhem for a while.
