You mean like they need illegals? The debate in the USA about immigration reform, an amenesty for the millions of illegals, procedes without much economics, as far as I can make out.
Well I feel the United States caused the economic situation in Mexico and in some way they are responsible to it's citizens.
However, that said;
High Cost of Illegal Immigration
There is an argument that if there were no illegal immigrants our food cost would be really high. Is it possible that there are hidden costs in that lettuce that we now buy, that lettuce already costs more than we think? There are some costs that illegal immigrants cause American society that are rarely thought of . My experience is based on living and teaching in California.
From personal experience 1) Many illegal immigrant families share the cost of renting or the purchase of a home with others they know. They live in homes zoned for a single family dwelling. In our old neighborhood it was common for 3 and 4 families to share a home. One home two doors down from us had 6 families sharing it. An average family had 10 kids and many had 12. So for schools planning on possibly 3 children per home they could have from 40-60 children per home. The increased costs don't end there. Many illegal Immigrant children using fraudulently obtained identities get free lunches and that adds still more to the public school burden and budget. Most are bused to school causing schools to have to spend extra money on fuel, bus repair and bus replacement. This adds increased cost to the public schools and an added burden to those living and working legally through the ever increasing state and property taxes.
2) Illegal immigrants rarely have insurance so most must use the Emergency room at your hospitals even for non-emergencies, causing hospitals to raise their cost or close entirely making a trip to the hospital more expensive due to increased insurance cost. When figuring out the increased cost it is necessary to add increased gas cost that is required when getting medical care because the nearest hospital is no longer near.
3) Since most employers require proof of residency ie Social Security Cards there are businesses selling social security numbers at an average cost of $2,000 per number. At least that was the cost 4 years ago the last time I had a direct quote. The social security numbers come from Identity theft from living and dead people causing increased burden on law enforcement and destroying lives of honest law abiding people who's IDs has been stolen. No way of knowing how this effects actual people on Social Security. Many use these same Social Security numbers to apply for welfare which increases the amount spent on providing welfare causing government spending to continue to rise.
4)Many illegal immigrants drive without insurance or even a legal drivers license, causing increased cost of auto insurance even in states like Georgia that requires all drivers living in Georgia to have auto insurance.
When all of that is considered the cost for the $1.50 a head of lettuce is way more than $1.50.
There are better ways to address the illegal immigrant population than a fence across Arizona and California but until the true cost of these guest workers are factored in and made public our politicians will never have a backbone enough to address these issues.
It used to be that if an offer of a penny for your thoughts were made, many of us would gladly share our thoughts. Now at least some of us aren't so sure that we can afford to share our thoughts even for the cost of a head of lettuce.

That was a good clip. Another thing to consider is how many lawsuits this law could easily cause. Anyone who gets arrested but who is a citizen can file a wrongful arrest suit.
That is, if this law survives until its implementation date.
Not sure this will be a good move for the Arizona economy.

If Mexicans-Americans(Legal) want to Protest this Law, they can simply refuse to carry the proper Documents, get Arrested, Flood the Courts with Cases that will clear them.
That said, some are claiming that this Law only applies to people being stopped due to suspicion regarding other Crime(s). So it may not be as bad as first thought, assuming those claims are accurate of course.

No, there will be more racial profiling. They'll stop people who look Mexican.

I suspect this will be true regardless of how the Law is intended to work.I thought it was rather telling watching some Video of a Protest. On the one side you had mostly Hispanics Protesting the Law. On the other side you had mostly Whites chanting "USA, USA". Seems pretty clear that a Racial schism is going to be the result, although it appears that this Law is likely the result of that schism in the first place.

Always America's fault...
I guess it's America's fault there is corruption in Mexico ? or that the drug cartels are running entire regions in north Mexico ?
The problem is not from America. The problem is the criminality and the corruption in the country. How can build a strong economy when there's no law ? Impossible.

This law will be called unconstitutional faster than you can think. You cannot remove rights from the people for such simple reasons, that's written in the constitution. Everybody has the right to Life, to Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

You know your defense of the United States on every post makes me wonder; why the fuck are you living in Canada. What, they don't want you in the USA?
The United States fearful of a communist nation on it's southern border and possible nukes being placed off it's shores, played politics by funding and support to tyrannical dictators and currupt governments, such as Haitian Government, the Salvadoran Civil war which was fought in the context of the global Cold War, funding the PRI in Mexico, which also stole most of Mexico wealth and shipped it to Spain and Sweden...
Say the Bay of Pigs was another example.
So yes, I blame the United States for creating this immigration problem.
Same defense as the Conservatives are using for the possible Obama gun control legislation, you take the guns out of the hands of the people... they can't fight back on a currupt government.
Is it hard to live with so much hate in yourself you have to invent things in forums ?
P.S.: i'm not a conservative. I removed my blue "C" long time ago.
*sigh*
