Well there is a parallel issue here to debate however. If one expects teachers to get fired for breaching public trust then how come police don't get fired for the same, for the most part? Many would agree this is not as potentially damaging as say someone driving drunk down a busy street, or assaulting people (while off duty or on) yet police officers get what amounts to a pass on these things all the time. There have even been officers who have been charged with sexual assault who are still on the job with no loss of pay.
Maybe if we want to support these teachers getting fired then we should be pushing for police officers and those in other public trust positions not getting off so easy as well.
I say this more to throw out debate than having a firm position on it.
