For the mother of a 3-year-old who was mauled by the pit bull-Lab cross, it was the end of 6 1/2 years of torment. For the Toronto Humane Society, it marked a symbolic conclusion of an era: the death of the poster dog for the controversial reign of for

Coming from someone who works closley with with dogs and the pet owners helping all sorts of problems ive seen a variety of situations including ones like this. Pitbulls are not attack dogs they're just like any other dog. I blame the owners who get a dog, thinking its easy to train and raise a dog, truth is that its alot of time and work and when they cant handle these types of dogs are created.

The dog’s owner, the injured boy’s grandmother, demanded Bandit be put down, but Trow resisted.

So ma'am, no offense, but why didnt you take your dog to a vet and have it euthanized?

Other than that, Trow is an ass. This particular dog mauled a kid, attacked 3 other people and was aggressive. A pitbull is more dangerous that way than any other dog his size, because it doesnt let go.

Dekab89, sorry, but not all dogs are rehabilitable. Just like not every person is.

Parents have a responsibility here, "the young lad bent down to kiss the dog". Well the first thing I taught my very young son when we got a puppy was to NEVER put your face near the dog, even our own, let alone a strange one.

While I don't disagree with putting the dog down, it really did not know any better, like the Olsen's and Bernardo's of the world did, yet we allow them to live. Strange

We also euthanize sick animals, while we put humans through endless treatment and pain while they do not want that.

When we "euthanize" a sick animal, it is the human thing to do, but when we "euthanize" a terminally ill person, it's murder...
