In the classic teen movie Animal House there comes a moment when the ne'er-do-well students of the Delta fraternity finally realise their pranks have gone too far. Faced with expulsion from university, the most violent, antisocial drunkard of the group, B

Nothing new in this article, but very well said.

I don't like the metaphor because frat boys, at least, know how to have fun. I don't think I'd want to party with any Republicans. When the joy you derive in life comes from the misery of others, you're just not the sort of person I'd want to hang out with.

The guy is using a "Daily Kos" poll. He's basically parroting every single anti-Republican statement I've heard in the past few years, oh but it's very well said.

To be fair -- if you just replace some words it could easily be pointed at the nut jobs hanging out on the fair left too. Politics is a fucking clown show is what he is getting at I would think.

I totally agree with you, and that's the problem, it is a clown show, but most people only see the OTHER side as clowns. What he's getting at is that it's all the Republicans fault, and yet the Democrats are totally innocent in it all. That's wrong.

It's unfortunate that it has to come that way, but the crazies on the right are the one's the media can latch to now; if it was 2001-2007 it would be the left. It's just the popular shooting board. No one really cares about the people in the middle who are actually getting fucked around by everything.

Sure, all politicians are whores, in the US probably moreso than here. But there's politics as usual, and then there's Glen Beck Tea Party crazy.

As for Daily K-OS, I can agree that blogs and partisan cites are probably not the highest standard of credibility for journalism or even commentary but reference to it was not central to the article's thesis and its results were comparable to the credible and established Harris poll.

Most of the vote whoring politicians behave like they are in the move "Animal House" is just at the moment the Republican are being looked
at as the scum bags but the democrats aren't much cleaner.

Absolutely. And why - because they're the ones we vote for. Somebody who's not for sale and doesn't try to bullshit the public doesn't have a hope of getting elected. If they're the whores, we're the johns. So I just try to vote for the whore who seems to mostly closely whore him/herself for what I agree with. Even that is slim pickings.

Glenn Beck is batshit, sure. The Tea Parties have just been happily labeled as such by the same exact people who considered dissent as the highest form of patriotism only a few years back.

We already had the discussion over the Harris poll, and it certainly wasn't credible. Of course, is this what you want to believe, 1/3 of all Democrats believe 9-11 was an Inside Job, and Bush=Hitler. So on so forth. That "established" poll fuels the stupidity.

Here's a question, Beaver. If this commentary was against liberals/Democrats, USING the same language, just changing a few quotes/polls, would this be "Very well said"?

A British reporter for the Guardian who wasn't even born when Animal House was released says this?

Exactly. I even have a Hillary quote in my siggy to that effect:

”I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.” - Hillary Clinton
