The imam of Ottawa's largest mosque will be able to stay in Canada and continue his work in the capital now that the government has renewed his visa.

So he is allowed to stay because "The situation caused concern among members of Ottawa's Muslim community, who feared Syed's deportation could lead to radicalization of the mosque." Interesting!!!

No, he can stay because his workpermit was renewed and there was no reason to not do so.
He is paid by his boss (an embassy, who cares?) and he does a good job. He was hired till 2011. Why didnt they give him a workvisa till 2011 in the first place?
