Scores of Carlsberg workers walked off the job in protest Thursday after the Danish brewer tightened laid-back rules on workplace drinking and removed beer coolers from work sites, a company spokesman said.

    How cruel of Carlsberg.

This is one injustice I personally have NEVER encountered at the workplace!

Carlsberg had mulled a stricter drinking policy for years and finally decided to impose the new rules on April 1, prompting protests from staff.

Quite obviously the workers never abused the priviledge of free beer at work before so why enforce harsher rules when the previous ones worked fine?

My guess would be that the whole thing is about cost and not being socially conscious like Carlsberg would have you believe.

Oh I totally believe it is about cost. If there were safety issues due to intoxication they would have changed this long time ago.

At least they can still drink at lunchtime. How many of us can say we have a job that not only lets us drink at work but is also company supplied?

I used to work for a beer company. One of the best perks was drinking at work!
