The Vatican is officially distancing itself from parallels drawn between recent attacks on the Catholic Church over abuse scandals and anti-Semitism.

    Two comments made within 24 hours of one another resulting in two apologies.

    Note to Mr Williams: your own church is in a mess. Let the Catholics sort out their own problems and you should turn your attention to keeping the creaky old CofE together.

    Note to Mr. Cantalamessa: the Catholic Church needs to clean up its own house; don't drag other religions into it.
