A lunatic is a lunatic in any religion. Being a lunatic isn't as popular as it used to be in Christianity, it's left to a very small fringe.

But hey, the Islamic world has embraced the lunatic ethos and it's now mainstream in a caliphate near you!

LOL, the US government took down their website! Someone should tell the government about Google cache...

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... clnk&gl=us

    See it while you can.

Hmm. At first blush these people look nutty, but when you dig into their site I'd say 90% of the info they pass along is official US government information and, most notably, they pass along information from FEMA which immediately puts them out of the general population of Doomsday cults. FEMA is the 'Beast' or the 'Shadow Government' to most of these people.

I'm wondering if this is like the Randy Weaver thing where the government is ginning up 'right-wing' boogeymen.

Frankly, that's no different than the language found in any number of classical pieces such as Rossini's (When Thou comest)

Another *interesting* thing I'm seeing here is that the word "Christian" is not capitalised.

Christians (and anyone with decent English composition skills) always capitalise the word 'Christian' as it refers to Christ (a proper noun).

The only time I ever see the word spelled as 'christian' is when it is done by atheists and other non-believers as an insult or out of ignorance. It is suspicious to see this.

Are you suggesting that only REAL Christians can spell correctly?

When I see things like this I just shake my head. In my former “business” seeing individuals with issues was the norm. It’s when there’s a group sharing the same delusions that I wonder if there’s not something in the water.

I actually had one of those moments yesterday. Jehovah’s Witness family came to the door yesterday afternoon (we haven’t had this happen for years) and before my wife could beat me to the door, I opened it to see the father holding out his pamphlet with his wife and son standing right behind him. I should mention I have a custom made brass plaque on my front door which says “No Soliciting” and below that it also says “No Conversions”. It’s impossible to miss. I asked him if he’d read the contents of his pamphlet (before he could ask if I’d heard the good news…..) to which he said yes. I said I bet there’s a lot of words in there and couldn’t understand how he was able to read that and couldn’t read the big plaque on the door. His response through his big smile was “It’s not the same thing” to which I obviously must have looked less than happy and they all did a smart little turn and walked back down the driveway.

When it comes to spelling the word, "Christian", yes, I do. The spelling 'christian' is a hallmark of non-Christians.

It says volumes that your wife is embarassed to have you answer the door.

Yep, hosted by GoDaddy. Forgive me, but that's another red flag to me as the paranoid Christian militia groups tend to use their own ISP's and web hosts.

Either these clowns were pathetically bad at being 'christian', a secret militia, and they sucked at using a secure web host, or they're something else.

These people are being charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction (that means they were going to use nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons) yet they can't spell and they don't use a typical militia web host?

GoDaddy (if my Canadian friends are not familiar with it) runs TV advertisements that are little more that soft-core porn and they are the bane of Christian groups. Check out their ads on You Tube and you'll see.

 …and people that really couldn’t care less….. I’m pretty sure the comprehension is present regardless of an uppercase “C”.

Retired Psychologist. I’m curious too. What particular sect of Christianity do you belong to that so highly prizes spelling?

I think you misunderstood. She likes to play with them. She dislikes the screwballs more than I do.

Which is my point. If these yahoos are supposed to be raging fundie Christians then why are they spelling the word 'christian' as if it doesn't matter?

Every mainstream sect of Christianity capitalises the word 'Christian'. All of them. Mine is nothing unique in that regard.

You were a pshrink? I'd expect someone a little more Zen-like as a psychologist. I was expecting you to say you had been a prison guard or perhaps staff at a mental institution. No offense, mind you, it's just you're rather adamant about your opinions and that is a tad unuaual in my experience with people in your profession.

I did. My humble apologies. In my house the Mrs. hates when I answer the door to the JW's as I debate them (I know their beliefs better than most of them do) and she tends to want to sit down and witness to them. She's pretty good at it, too. The Mormon kids avoid our house as she's managed to get two of them to accept Christ over the years.

Sadly this distinction is very rarely noticed.

On a secondary and minor note, I agree with Bart that you're supposed to spell Christianity with a capital C, and not a lower case c. Same goes with Christ, Christian, and goes with any spelling of any denomination. It's just respectful. I do the same with Islam, Hindu, Judaism, etc. I might be a bit lazy with jew, muslim, etc, but you're still supposed to capitalize them anyway, at least if you're going to be respectful. It's like capitalizing a name (John Smith), a formal place (like, for example, Whitby Public Library) or something similar.

Any "Belief System" that advocates violence as a means,
"serving God" is in the lunatic fringe and needs to be in
a very large and very secure mental health facility preferably
with armed guards so that the rest of the world can live in
    peace.
