You know something is wrong when you have to kick members of your own party to vote for it.

They say it's all up to Stupak now. My guess; he was just waiting for the right grease, and Nancy went to the cupboard for the good stuff. It's in the bag for the Dems is my guess.

Bart scheduled a press conference in about a half hour. Turn on CNN, and watch a weasel wease.

While this bill certainly doesn't sound perfect, I hope it finally breaks the log jam and gets things moving down there. Maybe at some point they'll be ready to add a public component.

As for grease, it's what seems to keep the wheels turning in the US. Corruption raised to a high, and even sometimes legal, art.

The Stupak gang flipped so it looks like it's a done deal.

Personally the passing makes no difference to me other than trying to understand what thinking individual would be opposed to it. Millions have zero coverage now, people going bankrupt to pay medical bills, and insurance companies screwing the hell out of their own population. For an enlightened western country, the US is way behind the times when it comes to taking care of their own people.

You should care about the US having a more rational healthcare approach, because it will take pressure off Canada to privatize healthcare. It won't be a beacon for Stephen Harper anymore, and US companies won't bring NAFTA complaints that our healthcare system is a subsidy to Canadian business. Also, if the US were to actually use it's collective head and institute something better than we have, say like how France seems to have much better outcomes, maybe it will put pressure on us to reform our own healthcare. And we wouldn't have the bogeyman of any change we make will take us down the road to US insanity anymore.

I don't think this bill will do all that, but I hope it's a start.

Does this means Rush is moving?

Yep. But it won't be to Costa Rica, as he threatened:
This does not make sense at all: Costa Rica has the best socialized medical safety net of all central American countries, if not Latin American countries. Infinitely much better then the US system. In addition there is the government run "extra" medical insurance for people who want to be treated faster in private hospitals and clinics.

Is Rush totally ignorant? ... or does he want the best of all combinations: a peaceful country, no army, great health care, great affordable education.

Instead, Somalia seems closer to the paradise envisioned by the dittoheads:

One thing with this bill I dont get is the prexisting conditions. So I can drop my healthcare coverage today and buy it back when I get sick?

This bill is garbage just like all the assholes in DC

We seem to have that figured out in Canada - maybe the US could learn something here. What's the point of health coverage if you can't get it just when you need it? There's a comedian who does a riff about how the bank won't lend you money unless you already have assets (ie money). He says imagine trying to order in a restaurant and the waiter asking you, "well, do you have any food? You can't order unless you already have food." I guess it's sort of Catch 23.
Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle. "That's some catch, that Catch-22,"

Maybe the US can make a deal with Rush. He gets to stay in the Us, but he has to STFU for at least a year.
