It’s kind of funny this came out when it did a few days ago. I’m currently looking to hire a few entry level positions in Edmonton so I of course placed an ad on N.A.I.T.’s (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) placement site. I’ve gotten back 20 resumes so far and out the 20, 14 of them are recent immigrants and 5 are non immigrant women. Not that I have anything against women or immigrants but I was really surprised at the ratio of immigrants and women who responded to an oilfield ad which normally only white males respond to.
My field (medical technology) has been by foreign workers with a very large % coming from the Phillipines.
