The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) must close at the end of 2011 for up to a year to address design issues, according to an LHC director.

O.K. call me crazy. LHC to be closed at the end on 2011 to reopen one year later 2012 (decemberish)

Not real surprising.
Every documentary I watched on this thing left me with the "this thing is gonna be a cast iron PITA to debug and get working" feeling.
An incredibly complex and incredibly daring piece of engineering.
