Pierre Trudeau may have a string of schools named after him across Canada. But in the wake of opposition from Calgarians, the former prime minister's name won't be appearing on a public school in this city.

I thought that uttering the name Trudeau in Alberta was considered an obscenity.

I'd like to find out which dipshit on the school board thought that it was even acceptable to put that no-good bastards name into consideration for a school naming out here.

I've always believed that any public building should be named after someone who has done a lot, selflessly, for the community the building is in. Of course, that being the case his namewill never adorn a builing, or any public venue, west of Ontario!

    Completely agreed. It's ridiculous.

    Their school, their call.

    Can't say I blame them.

No, it's not. Trudeau fucked Alberta on purpose, just because it made him look good in Ontario and Quebec. That, and the fact that he always hated us and probably thought it was incredibly funny to hurt us as hard as he could. Every time you hear some local Alberta redneck bozo spouting off about "Alberta separation" remind yourself that you can trace the entirety of the western separatist sentiment and the anger right back to the deliberate actions of one Pierre Eliot Trudeau. Just because you're too young to have been around back then doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Someone on the board is worth voting for eh? someone with class, intelligence, and decorum. A rare find in Alberta :)

That would be like naming a new school in Quebec City, "General Wolfe"

What's wrong with naming a school after a Prime Minister? I;m o fan of the Conservatives, but don't think I'd be having a hissy fit if they named a local school "Stephen Harper High." And I'm sure they will name a few schools after Harper.

You guys need to get over it and deal with your anger issues.
