Argentina was celebrating a diplomatic coup yesterday in its attempt to force Britain to accept talks on the future of the Falkland Islands, after a two-hour meeting in Buenos Aires between Hillary Clinton and President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The UK should keep this in mind the next time Uncle Sam wants international support for their next military operation.

THe Falkland Islanders want to stay British that should be the end of it. Why are the Americans getting involved? Unless the Islanders want to change their allegience why should that involve Mrs Clinton and Obama?

That would solve a number of problems quickly. She is a
cold fish anyway that why Clinton had an eye for other
    women.

Yah, you might want to cancel your travel plans to the US for a while. Like until January 20, 2013 or possibly January 20, 2017.

    Not to worry.

I have great memories of my trips thru the US.

East Coast from Maine to Virginia Beach, Laconia and Mt. Washington
West Coast, all of it, nice drive on Route 1.
Across the plains to Sturgis, Minnesota and Wisconsin are really beautiful.

But I think they will stay memories.

    Besides, I'm a desperately bad shot. :)

The Yanks did the same during the Falklands War. They played nice with all the OAS countries and urged for a diplomatic solution and appeared to favour the Argies in the talks.

While Yank politicians talked, US arms producers sold us a big fuck-off load of of the latest AIM-9 air-to-air missiles, gave us loads of sneaky-beaky gear and gave us sat-intel on everything the Argies were doing.

The Yanks will support the Brits but not in public. It annoys all those jolly South Americans.

THat was actually a Robin Williams line: The joke went something
like A reporter askes Bill Clinton why he took up with Monica
Lewinsky and he takes out a picture of Hillary and says this is
    why.

It is off the thread, but Hillary IS a cold fish to
everybody apparently except to the President of Argentina.

I don't blame the British for being concerned about
what Hillary and her Boss are doing getting involved in this.

If the Islanders wanted to join Argentina that would be
one thing, but that is not the case at. The Islanders have
said an emphatic "NO". That should be the end of it.
