I'm trying not to hope for disaster at London and Sochi since that is contrary to the Olympic spirit but sometimes ......

I learned a long time ago that the absolutely disgusting yellow British press represents practically no significant segment of the British population. They're so bad they make FOX News look like Pulitzer Prize winners. Going by British tradition, the only two criteria for becoming a reporter or editor over there is to be (a) psychotic, and (b) an officially verified asshole. So it's more than safe to ignore the Brits because nothing they say actually matters.

As for the Russians, the greatest cheaters (next to South American or Italian soccer players) in the entire history of organized sports? Well, fuck them and their diseased and dying country.

The bigger question is why the Canadian press is still so craven and lacking in national self-confidence that they still regard the silly opinions of silly foreigners as being important. Any why we're supposed to try extra harder to placate some drunk reporters or state propaganda mouthpieces in places like London or Moscow. Screw them. Vancouver 2010 did a great job, and all the nay-sayers from the dried-up and obsolete old countries can just go suck it.

Anyone checked the weather in Sochi for this week?
