A giant flag depicting an Australian boxing kangaroo will be welcome in B.C.'s second-largest city if it is ordered removed from the Vancouver athletes village, the mayor of Surrey said Friday.
I can't believe I'm gonna say this............but, I agree with the IOC.
If they allow the Aussies to put up a mascot flag, where does it end. Every team and every person would then be eligible to fly, wear, or parade around with any mascot they wanted.
Although I do have a question about the timing of this. If the Aussies are so adamant about flying their mascot flag, why didn't they make it an issue in Bejing?
Well the IOC caved to the Aussies. They can have their marsupial with an attitude flag. The only caveat the IOC made was that they have to pay to register it under the IOC auspices.
So once again the almight dollar talks.
The sad part is that the next Olympics is gonna look like a proverbial flag locker, with everything from Beavers to long eared jaboa's gracing the the venues.
I would think that the only ones who might possibly have a valid complaint would be those in the rooms underneath whose view is obstructed. The flag itself. I kinda like it.
Agree with Yogi: as long as the occupants of those rooms don't mind it being there, who gives a shit? I hate it when I'm in hotel room that you just can't get dark enough...maybe I should travel with a big goddamn flag.

What is everyone so bent up about?
