Olympic protesters converging on Vancouver

All I see is a bunch of spoiled rich kids that never lacked anyhting in their lives.

Except life experience.....or a couple good books....or a stint in rehab....or a post-secondary education in something besides English or art studies.

I really wish it was........Why don they go to Haiti and help out if they have so much time on their hands.

Soooo they're protesting a done deal under the guise of, "That money could be used to help the poor." Not that it isn't a valid argument BUT, if that is their concern, maybe the time they're taking off work would be put to better use volunteering with the poor.
If you wanna protest the games, fine, but don't pretend yer doing so cuz you "care" about the poor. Go the fuck back home and help the poor in your communities then.

The money these ass clowns blew on travel to BC could have been donated to food banks and homeless shelters. Instead of taking the time off work to protest, maybe they should go to work and use their paycheque earned during the same time frame to help out the poor and homeless.
Oh, THAT'S right, there wouldn't be cameras there to showcase the "care and concern" they have for the poor.

That's all very nice. But if nobody ever challenges the govt on anything, just stays home and "helps the poor." it doesn't really accomplish much, does it? A lot of the protesters are nutbars. But the underlying point, that this just soaks the average joe to make money and have a party for the rich is valid, IMO. You can bet that after the Olympics we're going to hear how there's no money for anything, the kitty's empty. That would include addressing our homeless problem.

I hope the protesters keep it civil. But if the disrupt some events, cause some inconvenience, that sure won't keep me awake at night.

Dude, they already challenged the government when they protested the bidding on the Olympics and lost. This isn't a challenge anymore, it's sour grapes plain and simple.

And please tell me how going to a protest accomplishes more than actually DOING something other than whining? Is this protest gonna help feed one single homeless person? Doubtful. Is this protest gonna give some homeless child clothes and maybe a few toys? Doubtful. Actively giving a hand will accomplish MUCH more than complaining about it.
I could sit here and wax eloquent about how the government isn't doing enough for the poor, but that won't help them now will it? But if I get off my ass and actually volunteeer, or provide funds or clothing or appliances or whatever else is within my ability, then something has been accomplished.
Look, for ppl living in Ontario that are going to the protest, unless they drive there, they ain't gonna get there for much less than $500. That $500 could have been used to feed a poor family for at least a month. Sure, it's not a permanent solution but it's WAY more of a solution than spending money on a frivolous protest that will accomplish absolutely nothing.

I'm not a fan of the Olympics as most of you know, I don't thing travellign across the country to protest them is going to accomplish anything though.
These are the same idiots that are at every G8 Summit ect, just out to make headlinse and get their picture in the paper doing something "anti-establishment"

Yes, let's waste our time protesting something that is already going to happen. Let's not do this when it would have actually mattered... like when Canada was proposing this years olympics come to Canada or before they started spending millions of unnecessary money for a un-important event when as they say. It could be better spent else-where. Speaking of which, what I love about the olympics is that they are spending millions on reconstruction, etc and hiring staff and various other things. In which the Canadian Military will be the security for, however the government is scrambling to find and fund the military's current budget and is thinking of dramticly downsizing the military budget again. Ironic isn't it?

Also I think these people would do a lot better if they actually did something more constructive like help out with the haiti incident. Go around asking for donations to actually travel to haiti and do w/e they can. Being they got a lot of time on there hands.

The cause of THE PEOPLE! (insert trademark/Green Party logo here) will be greatly advanced after some martyr from PETA gets cut to ribbons by sharpened steel blades after he/she jumps onto the speed skating track in the middle of a race. It ought to be YouTube levels of funny to watch later on as it was to see when that guy got his armed ripped off by a crocodile he was taunting.

All the time, effort and money spent protesting the games most likely would have gone a lot farther if spent on something worth while. Like maybe instead of 10,000 people paying airfare, buses, ferries, gas, accommodations so that they can have a "protest" (lets face it they want a riot), that money could have gone to something like affordable housing, and the time could of gone to help building that affordable housing.

Personally I'd love to see the police use their justice sticks and freedom spray, on a bunch of people who show up hiding their faces. You only hide you face if you plan on doing something illegal (like throw a rock at a police officer or threw a window)
