BOUCHERVILLE — There's been another vicious hockey hit in a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game, and once again a player has been suspended.

seems to be a continuing problem, and not very funny.

Without making the punishment worse than the original infraction,
    not much will change.

Yeah, there really needs to be a re-assesment of the rules regarding injuries. Some have suggested making suspensions equal to injury time. I think maybe it should be even more severe. Maybe a "one strike and you're out" rule: any major penalty resulting in injury = a lifetime ban from amature hockey. Whether that incident comes in Pee Wee or Major Junior, you hurt someone once and you might as well sell your equipment 'cause you aren't welcomed back.

This is getting nuts. Hockey league executives need to drop the kid gloves when dealing with these kinds of hits and lower the boom on asshole players. I think a few lifetime bans would send a clear message. And in EXTREME cases like the recent vicious spearing, assault charges should be laid on TOP of any league punishments.
