Flames defenceman Phaneuf traded to Toronto

I'm surprised. Always thought Phaneuf was a top player for the Flames(could be wrong as I don't pay much attention to them).

Not too surprised - Flames had to make a change and Phaneuf was over-rated at best - a hype player who had his day in Calgary. He may do better with a change in scenery. The Flames were smart to trade him while he still had some cache.

Wow. Apparently those assholes who call in on Leafs Lunch about how they can do a better job than Burke should shut-up. A Leaf team that just got better after kicking out a ton of deadweight? Nice.

Although it is sad to see White go.

If you want to talk overated, maybe they should have traded Boumeister instead of Phaneuf, but then again, even the Leafs were'nt that desperite.

Either way, with all these under achievers changing jersey's neither team appears to have come out a winner.

it might make a bit of differnece for toronto to have him but they gave up alot to get him , well they got 4 players in return for the 6 they traded yesterday and one of the players they got is still in juniors . so there is some big holes in there line up at the moment and they have no hope of making the playoffs . and i expect them to make more trades as no one on that team is safe from a trade other than kessel i guess .

the flames on the other hand will benefit from players like white , stajan and hagman i think as they were doing good in toronto during a bad year so on a better team they might be better .
