"This one is a three-bedroom home, about 1,800 square feet, not intended for more than one resident. " + 600 per month with no food expenses and having somebody do your laundry? What lesson are they trying to teach?

    FUCK RIGHT OFF.

Good way to teach the kid something.

Crime is a good life in Canada.

They always do this for the people who do not deserve it for some reason, terrorists, rapists. I guess they all deserve special treatment?

...What. The. Fuck? Seriously. What the fuck? Let's ignore the fact he gets $150 spending money, and a nice house, but a 3 bedroom house for ONE person? Somebody explain this.

Maybe Mr Spadoni can explain. Oh wait he already did.

Peter Spadoni, a spokesman for the ministry of children and youth services, said his officials couldn't comment on the case as it involves a youth before the courts.

Which, if I remember my how to obscure the facts lessons, means, we fucked up, then got caught, but not to worry, cause we'll just stall till this whole thing blows over and then it's back to business as usual.

    What a joke.

    Edited for spelling.

Damn... I think I just found a new career for my kids. Screw school, go out and attack people, and send me your "spending money"
I will never be able to afford a 9 bedroom place, 5400 sqft, so they will be better off

You really want your kids buggering each other? It sounds like that's what this little freak was doing to a younger sibling or cousin.

Hey - I'm a foster parent since 1977 and if you guys knew how foster parents or group home workers get pilloried, (not just smeared) by the media if one little thing seems to be a bit to little in their welfare...

You should hate these excesses but any less and we'd face charges, not just lose our job.

    That's life....

The article/discussion here has absolutely nothing to do with Read both again!
Rather, this is about one 'young offender' who has been charged with a serious crime, who instead of being held in an 'institution-like setting', ie; young offenders jail, is instead being treated much better than many, many law abiding, tax paying citizens. And being given $600.00/mo. for pocket money!

Who here, has SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS PER MONTH 'PISSING AROUND MONEY'!

Hence the outrage. 'Someone' SHOULD lose their job over this!

Unbelievable yet believable, considering our justice system. I personally resent to see my tax dollars wasted this way when so many law-abidding people go without basic necessities of life. It sometimes makes me think that a life of crime does pay.

It's pathetic. It's sad. Just like almost every case that comes before our system. Are we ever going to have justice in this country? Are we ever going to live in a society where people actually have to be accountable for their actions? Are we ever going to elect a government that actually has the balls to punish people who bring harm to others and not make excuses for their behavior or give them leniency?

This is a pretty diverse crowd on this forum in many ways yet we all seem to come together with our outrage and disbelief when these stories come out and sadly they happen too often.

Believe me, he is in care and the $600 will be in the control of his caregivers, not him, to pay for all his daily expenses (not recreation) for the month.

When have you ever known the facts of a story and noticed the media got it right?

Believe me, $600 is more than a single parent of a couple of kids gets on welfare, to feed, clothe and pay for insurance, heat and electricity.
