OTTAWA-Gunsights with Biblical references inscribed on them are being used by Canadian special forces in Afghanistan, but the military plans to get rid of them as soon as possible.

Never in a million years did I think that we political correctness would make its way into tools that we use to kill people.

I gotta admit, I'm finding it rather amusing watching everyone getting their panties in a bunch about this.(not in here necessarily.)
However, I do find the irony of inscribing Biblical verses on gunsights to be somewhat disturbing.

The same thing is going on in the states, but really why the hell would someone care. It's just a set of numbers, it doesnt say anything, the only ones who would know what it meant would be those who are religious anyway. Even then no one would have made the connection unless they were told.

That's actually what I was originally gonna say. Unless they read the Bible, they would never have had a clue what those letters and numbers meant.
That's why I find it amusing watching people freak out over it

I heard on a BBC report this morning that the sights were night vision sights and that is why they used the biblical verses referring to 'light'. Can't wait for the mentally unbalanced frothers to come on and start claiming that this points towards some religious crusade against the muzzies.

Well, if Trijicon just started doing it when the war in Afghanistan or Iraq started, it might actually lend some credence for the mentally unbalanced frothers. BUt, they've been doing it for DECADES now and there's absolutey ZERO basis for claims of a religious crusade.
I know, the batshitters will still be all over it though

I think it's a non issue given what else is going on these days, someone just had too much time on their hands.

Why not? If they're making the scopes, they can inscribe whatever they like. It's not like the citation leads to a Bible verse saying "Go kill Muslims"

Canada has nothing to do with it. The manufacturer puts the phrases on the scope. We just buy 'em.

Zealots need very little cause to turn a conflict into a war of religions. It's just fuel for that fire.

Just don't print it in cartoon format.

Shit, I think it's great idea!!! Where can I buy one for the inevitable use it will have here? It's just a matter of time or another successfully massive attack by the religion of peace before we turn on them.
