Security personnel are installing hundreds of closed circuit surveillance cameras around downtown Vancouver in preparation for the Olympics, but questions remains about whether or not many of the cameras will be removed after the Games

funny, I was talking about this last week with a friend of mine who lives in England.

Someone sat down and figured out a trip from Portsmouth to London can get you photoed on up to 300 different cameras.

The cameras will stay.. believe it.

Can not understand peoples fear what are you doing that you are so afraid of people seeing it . Try Picadily Square if you want cameras , We here have no Idea yet.

If you're not doing anything wrong, what do you have to worry about? Since I've graduated from highschool, all of my jobs - DNDs(in a few countries), RCMP, MoE(in a few countries again), NGOs have required intensive background checks, including fingerprinting, interviews and polygraphs. I don't feel that I've lost any privacy. If anything having all of this done, has opened opportunities for me that I otherwise wouldn't have had.

As for security cameras, people will feel more secure in areas covered by cameras, grafitti/vandalism should decrease, so I see it as a win win situation. In the end it would change people's behaviour, and in the long term the need for them might actually disappear
