The Conservative party has won an important court victory over the legality of $1.3 million in so-called "in-and-out" advertising purchases from the 2006 election campaign.

    RAID gone bust!

The Libs are lucky the Haiti disaster has taken the focus off of Ottawa this week, otherwise they would get hammered at the polls. Add this to the Ethics commission announcement that went un-noticed by most of the media and the Libs are back to licking their wounds.

"Parliament's ethics commissioner has dropped an investigation into allegations by a Liberal MP that the federal government used taxpayer dollars for advertising programs that were thinly disguised attempts to promote the Conservative party."

Canadian diplomats stationed in Kabul warned the former Liberal government in 2003, 2004 and 2005 that torture was commonplace in Afghan prisons. In spite of these warnings, the Martin government signed an agreement with the Karzai government in December 2005 to hand over all Canadian-captured prisoners to Afghan authorities, Foreign Affairs documents obtained by La Presse reveal."

Bet you aren't that upset at those damned 'liberal' judges this time huh...

In a ruling released Monday, Justice Luc Martineau disagreed, saying the two candidates did incur the expenses. He ordered Mayrand to approve the claims.

Martineau said, however, that the decision does not necessarily bear on an investigation of the ad buying program currently being conducted by the Commissioner of Canada Elections, William Corbett.

"There is a fundamental distinction between legality and legitimacy," Martineau wrote.
