Mark McGwire finally came clean, admitting he used steroids when he broke baseball’s home run record in 1998.

“I did this for health purposes. There’s no way I did this for any type of strength use.”

Calling bullshit. More like Trying to come clean so people forgive/forget and vote him into Cooperstown.

Is there anybody really surprised by this? Now perhaps Pete Rose has a chance to be put in The Hall as he deserves.

McGwire is a joke...and a coward. Why wait till now to disclose what everyone already knew? The Hall.

LaRussa claims he may add McGwire to the active roster this season, should his team be in playoff contention and require a right-handed bat. Why? The answer is that a player must be retired for 5 years to appear on the Hall of Fame ballot. McGwire has been on the ballot now 4 times, and despite Hall of Fame numbers, hasn't been CLOSE to the 75% required to be so enshrined. If McGwire were to be reinstated to an active MLB roster for 2010, then re-retire, he'd postpone his eligibility for the Hall of Fame ballot until in 2016.

This admission of steroid use, plus the LaRussa claim, is a blatent attempt for McGwire to gain entrance into the Hall of Fame by "pushing back" his term of eligibility. They hope that the steroid scandal will be less on the Baseball Writers' minds from 2016 to 2032 than it is now.

Way to go Mark. Your conduct of cheating, your conduct before Congress and now your conduct before baseaball fans and Hall of Fame voters will go down as legend. You're a hero. I'm sure your children are very proud of you.

Years ago I read Jose Canseco's biography . A good read BTW but enough sour grapes to make a fine whine.(pun fully intended) In it he goes in detail about McGuire's steroid use. The so called Bash Brothers used to shoot each other up regularly.

Is anyone really shocked by this "news". Anyone with half a brain knew deep down that McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, Canseco, and all the other long-ball hitters were juiced, they just weren't getting tested for it.

I agree with Lemmy, any good McGwire did during his career is now tarnished due to his illegal use of performance enhancing drugs, his lying and his blatant attempt at trying to manipulate the entrance requirements for Hall of Fame entry.

Pete Rose makes far more sense as a Hall of Famer than McGwire.

“There's no way a pill or an injection will give you hand-eye co-ordination or the ability or the great mind that I've had as a baseball player,” he said.

Well Dr. McGwire, you'll forgive me if I call you full of shit. I think the best reaction from MLB would be to remove his 1998 home run total from the record book, and then focus on 'Roid Rage Bonds an getting him to come clean. It's time MLB sent a message about consequences.

Funny how all these athletes come clean after making millions, and honestly expect us to beleve them when they say "they would not have done it if they could go back in time."

This is true. The main goal of the drug was treatment of breast cancer by inhibiting aromatization. Women usually used it after the onset of menopause, because nothing else helped. This is probably the most effective product currently on the market for this purpose. Letrozole is also interesting for sportsmen and athletes, as it reduces the level of estrogen at least on 98%. In fact, the decrease of estrogen in the body eliminates the side effects of steroids, such as water retention, gynecomastia and acne. The drug is suitable even for complex cycles. In addition, if you are a bodybuilder, the drug will be good for you, cause it will make your muscles very dry. But do not take more than 2.5 to 5mg per day, as it can cause a risk of loss of libido.
