and that bonded thing..i completely understand...when i was a teenager i pulled a Pit Bull off my foster mom's Rottweiler...without even sensing danger..that bond goes both ways
When I was a little kid, just over walking age, Grandpa had a collie that wouldn't let me get close to the electric fence. (electric cattle fence for you city folk, zaps you good when you touch it)
My parents/Grandpa describe it like this:
Apparently, I would get pissed right off at this dog and hit it (as hard as a todler can). But every time I'd start walking in that direction she would walk in the way, rub against me, pushing me back. Didn't seem to mind me screaming and hitting her.
