Nope. It's the Vancouver games. The rest of BC is only paying (so is Vancouver, btw). I don't know a single BC'er that wants the games or wants to pay for it.
The local store had some kind of promotion, you could win 2 tickets to some olympic thing, just fill out the form. Only a few did. Everyone had the same answer> "Olympics? You can keep it. I rather die than go there"

    Canadian?
How much is the federal government contributing to this disaster?

I don't see what the problem with the train is. Considering all the flak Alberta has been taking over the environment, it makes sense to have a train carry a couple hundred people back and forth between Whistler and Vancouver rather than have them drive their cars, SUV's etc.

I have no interest in going to the Games, but certainly do want them here. The long term benefit is well worth the last few years of sacrifice.

This will take years to pay for and is a colossal waste of money which could be spent on better things. Have the Olympics but lets scale them down in cost and grandeur, as they are out of control cost wise.

NBC does a great job of producing side stories to fill up their games coverage time slots. I can’t see them not doing a story on this train. Considering they charged $3M for a 30 second Super Bowl commercial last year, even a 2 minute segment on this train wrapped in the Alberta flag, and broadcast in prime time in the US will be a bar-goon. Also, there’s a lot more included in the $7M promotion budget than just this train.

And Brenda, my sincere thanks for putting on the Olympics for us all.

While I'm usually critical of our provincial government, this is one of their better ideas IMHO.
