People planning to take the new rapid transit line from Vancouver International Airport will have to pay a $5 surcharge on top of the regular fare if they don't have prepaid tickets, starting Jan. 18.

Another freaking ripoff from the folks at Translink...

still pretty cheap though...$8.75 from dowtown on public transit light rail? Even with the $5 surcharge on the way back, that $13.75 is way cheaper than any reasonable airport transpo here in Toronto, where the cheapest practical option costs almost $20 for a privately owned hotel shuttle bus that makes the rounds of the local downtown hotels several times a day. Your other options are a $50 cab ride or spending 1.5-2 hrs on public transit, where you have to take a bus and then a long-ass subway ride from the end of the line!

I would take that Canada Line in Vancouver in a heartbeat!

Does TransLink do the bridge tolls? Three months after I crossed that new bridge they mailed me an invoice for $3.75. And no way to pay it other than mailing a cheque.
Gov't and Technology.... high tech scanners nab your license plate, laws redrafted so a company can access what used to be private info available only to cops, but too stupid to set up online banking or PayPal....
