This was on the NBC national news last night.
Note that the cop used a (GASP!) hand gun to kill the cougar. Unfortunately, the kid and his dog would now be cougar poop if the cop hadn't been right there to deal with this.

I met a cougar in a bar last night...didn't seem that dangerous.

The cop was a minute away. The kid had already gotten away, but for sure the dog would have been toast.
Something tells me that dog's getting a t-bone when he gets home!

I met a cougar once but she struck me as being more of a pig than a kitty.

Was your head firmly gripped by her fangs while she clawed you and made yowling noises?

Despite the jokes, I'm glad this came out the way it did. A boy and his hero dog, what more good news could one ask for
