wow, the US just handed this guy a death sentence.

Someone can steal your car and use it to rob a bank, it doesn't mean you're guilty. Still, this guy sounds fishy and an investigation is definitely needed.

Because the bust occurred in the U.S. The photo released by the RCMP could have been supplied by the DEA. I'm guessing the RCMP would rather have the Yanks prosecute then having to bother with it themselves.
Drug smuggling isn't exactly the safest occupation. Death is in the job description (fine print of course).

Maybe because there is no real hard evidence... and lets face it drug crimes in the USA vs Canada are delt with differently.
Take a look at the reefer refugees in BC.
If there is a loan on the helicopter, maybe the finance company cought wind of what's going on and did a repo as it would look like a bad loan from a business point of view... who knows.
The release of the info about the guy wanting to turn informant may be 100% false and is possibly just a stunt to isolate the accused from his friends and associates. Hopefully, the Canadian courts will require actual evidence to support the extradition.
Always thought it was the right of Canadian citizen to remain in Canada, as extradition of Canadian citizen is an infringement of citizen's right under Section 6(1) of the Charter, designed to protect the right of a Canadian citizens to choose of their own volition to enter, remain in or leave Canada.

But for how long? there are some Canadians that want to see the owner of a stolen firearm do more jail time than the bank robber that useds it.

And I don't have an issue with that if the gun isn't locked up properly. Well I don't necessarly think the gun owner should do MORE time than the bank robber. Same with a car. If someone is braindead enough to leave their keys in their car and someone steals it to commit a crime, then the car owner SHOULD be held partly responsible.
