In 2006, a Senate committee alleged that Mr. Lavigne misused nearly $24,000 in Senate funds and sent a staff member to cut down trees with a chainsaw at his Quebec cottage in the Gatineau Hills.

well its not illegal to be stupid. As a liberal, his sense of entitlement may have led him to believe it was ok to blow $24k on tree removal.

HOWEVER,

If the charge of obstruction of justice sticks, I hope he spends time jail for that, there is absolute no excuse for his actions.

"A sense of entitlement" is not subjected just to just the Liberal Party. This corruption is rampant in Canadian as well as in any govenment. It is a matter of personal ethics.

It is just too bad these bad apples are not routed out before they get to the height of power to affect us all or cost us all.
