TORONTO - When James Terry hung up on the telemarketer he thought nothing more of it, mainly because he could barely understand a word the man was saying.

This is digusting. The Jmes family should not fear to answer their telephone, especially as the are on a do not call list.If there are too many complaint does that sugest that something is wrong with the system?

As the cop told Terry, the telemarketer was probably "putting the tips on shoelaces the week before, was as poor as dirt, and having a bad day."

And that is a legit reason to do and say what he said? Puhleaze, don't try to sooth it, shove it under the rug or pretend it's not important. I ain't buying it.

Disgusting. I've always hated these foreign bloodhound idiots and this is obviously highly illegal to begin with.

Now we have to put up with these pigs insulting us over their unwelcome calls.

I saw Canada should put a ban on calling people with computer generated numbers. At least let us call these idiots back.

The DNC list has worked great for me, the calls stopped.

Had one call me Saturday. Just so happens our 3 month old was hungry and letting us know about it.

Guess where I held the phone before hanging up.

The best way to deal with telemarketers who call you when you are on a do not call list is to agree with their pitch and ask for a business name and address where you can send a check to pay for whatever they are selling.

Now you'll have their name and address and can report them to the proper authorities.

Whenever they call, I try to sell THEM some shit:

"Sir, I'd like to tell you about our current promotion..."
"Hold on, buddy, I have 200' of 48" green vinyl-coated aluminium fencing."
    "Pardon me sir?"
"If you want me to listen to your sales pitch, you're gonna listen to mine, so I have this leftover roll of fencing..."

That's usually where THEY hang up on me.

If they call and speak in English, I answer in French.
Of course, I also do the opposite. :D

Yet another reason to hate telemarketers.

I only say one word to telemarketers "Hello?"

From that point on, I don't say anything rude or polite, I hang up immediately. It saves time for the both of us.

I like the Danny Devito movie where he says " She can't come to the phone, she's busy sucking my c#ck" (click) " I love wrong numbers"

    I got caught once though.

The guy called and spoke in English.
I answer in French "Sorry I don't speak English".
So the guy starts talking in French.
I answer in English "Sorry I don't speak French".

There was a long pause on the other end, then he hung up.

    I love telemarketers. :D

This family should just wait, the company will call again, then they can get the credentials and file a complaint that at least has some teeth.
I don't waste my time with these jerks myself, I tell them as soon as they start their pitch that I'm not interested, then if they persist I hang up.
