    Let's see , 2 years, that works out to $327,500.00 per year. Not bad pay. Not bad at all, and he's crying?

    Oooo poor guy has to go to club fed for 2 years. He must be terrified with all those inside traders, embezzlers and other scary white collar criminals living there. And only 1 round of golf per week is allowed. That poor, poor man. :cry:

    bah, this whole sponsorship scandal only came to light because of a whistleblower. Didnt we just establish on the afghan torture thread that whistleblowers are just "jaded bureaucrats" and "rumour mongers" with no credibility who undermine our democratically government? :P

    only after the whistleblower tipped off the AG and a full investigation was launched to find the evidence you mentioned. And then to top that all off, a public inquiry was held.

    So what though. Folks are ready to flush the whole Afghan mission because of corruption but now corruption at the highest level of the Canadian government isn't a big deal?

    Your so desperate for a distraction that you dredge up such old news?

    Did you read that he plead guilty? No doubt, because if it went to court, the trial would have to bring up all of Chretien/Martin's shenanigans all over again.

    Mr. Gosselin’s firm, Gosselin Strategic Communications, was a major player in the sponsorship program, overseeing federal visibility at 500 events that received government funding.

    Mr. Gosselin made $4-million from 1997 to 2000, but his remuneration was obtained in part through the submission of 81 fake invoices to Public Works Canada. Most of those invoices were approved by then-bureaucrat Chuck Guité, a long-time friend of Mr. Gosselin who oversaw the program and has been sentenced to 42 months imprisonment for fraud.

    However, the court heard Friday that Mr. Gosselin had instructed his staff to overcharge the government to maximize his company’s revenues.

    Three other admen have been sent to prison for their role in the sponsorship program: Paul Coffin (18 months), Jean Brault (30 months) and Jean Lafleur (42 months).

    The police probe into the sponsorship scandal in ongoing.

    The two don't have any relation. One is an internal matter and one is far more pressing as a foreign affair and a reflection of Canada in the world at large.

    It's not surprising that people feel more sensitive on the international stage. Almost half the country feels that this war is NOT driven by Canadian morals or values.

    Canada doesn't want to be seen as a willing party to war and torture on the world stage. I concur as much as I think that this war is important.

    edit: I would like to add that despite anyone's feelings on the war please support our troops.
