Every year, the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ottawa organizes a week of activities to jog peoples' memories in the days leading up to Nov. 11.

I just figured something this important would have it's own domain and website.

"Not go on the cheap with a free service."

You have a point there, but... Cheap and free is good if you don't have much money to spend...

It's not really professional, that's true. It should be both. Website posted on FB ;-)

Given the bent of today's youth, I can see why they'd go with facebook. Every kid I know has an account on it, where as, if they actually had to do a little research to find a web page you'd likely miss 90% of them.

So I don't think it was a cheap out I think it was a good market strategy.

What they could have done, a bit more professional, is set up a website, and put that one as a group or fan page on fb. Now all they have is this... Nothing to go to, except for what the 70,000 groupmembers post there.
No back-up stories, no history, only content people put on there.
