Putting the Snowboarder up against the Sea-Dooer makes for good politics

The news that 1998 Olympic gold medalist Ross Rebagliati will carry the Liberal banner in the next federal election and take on Stockwell Day in the riding of Okanagan-Coquihalla certainly made a splash last week.

Sliding on snow, and smoking joints. Yep, that about qualifies him as a liberal candidate!

    Well lets be fair here...

Riding a sea do and waving the creationist flag got him a place in CPC.

And you'd be all ready with the bullhorn to call me racist?

Day has done a great deal for Canadians and to dismiss it with Kinsella's religious predudice is ignorant and biased. Just as ignorant and biased as anyone who would discriminate against candidates of other religions.
We need to judge candidates by their actions and the Liberal candidate here is a perfect metaphore for their party. A shrill elitist.

a shrill elitist? Why? Is it for no other reason then he is running as a Liberal? For all your crying about not being a racist (you are) and not dismissing candidates based on prejudices you are by far the worst offender. Lets not forget you equate intellectualism with snobbery and elitism based on your own prejudices. Lets not forget the tirades you threw about Justin Trudeau who by all accounts is a bright young energetic and intelligent person whom you hate not just because he is a Liberal but because of who his father is, the very essence of prejudice and bigotry.

Now you claim Ross is a shrill elitist based on what? He is brand new to politics and had he run for the CPC you would be championing him as the vanguard of a youthful conservative movement.

Yet another example of you bitching about people doing to your supported politicians what you do to others in spades.

Wouldn't you call any (almost) gold medal snowboarders elite?

    B*LLSHIT.

There is a difference between claiming somebody is an elite athlete and an

You meant it as a slur and you know it.

No you don't get to throw out a red herring and crawl away from this.

You claimed he was a "shrill elitist". You didn't question his qualifications you instead attacked him with a personal slur based on your insipid hatred of the Liberals.

As opposed to attacking someone based only on their religious beliefs?
    :D

You did that and creationist beliefs do deserve to be attacked.

As it turned out, for all the buzz surrounding his nomination, the actual nomination meeting itself was held in a small basement room and attended by no more than two dozen party members. It lasted all of five minutes.

Phone booth meeting! He's the only one stupid enough or stoned enough to run against Day.

Once again, for all the posturing and talk, the Toronto party and their appointed leader another white guy.

I wonder if this will goad Iffy to finally put pot on the party platform?
