WASAGA BEACH, Ont. -- The teenaged son of a retired police officer who was charged with speeding at 239 km/h let out a big sigh of relief yesterday after he beat the rap.

    But the teen's defence team of Barrie lawyer Karen Jokinen and retired York Police officer Randy Porter, who now runs Traffic Ticket Expert in Barrie, pointed out the officer's notes did not show he must have lost sight of the vehicle at least for a split second on three occasions: once when he made the U-turn; once when the vehicle went into a dip on the road; and once when it turned on a blind curve.


    (sigh) yep. yep. yep.

    Meanwhile somewhere else some native with no connections is going to get 1 year for the same thing.

    Great life lessons his dad is teaching his kid.
    Laws are for little people and those without connections.

    Outside of court, the teen smiled as he left with his father. "Police officers need to take accurate notes," said Jokinen, outside of court. "That's the bottom line."


    Oh ffs. I've got a $50 bill for the first person that finds this little snot and slaps him, really really hard.

    No kidding. The real bottom line is the prick shouldn't have been doing 200km/h+. Wonder what would be going through his mind if someone got killed?


    What would the 'bottom line' be then?

    I'd cut his drivers licence up, then I'd make him take a hack saw and side cutters to his car until every peice is smaller than a dime. Thats what I consider good parenting in this case.

    Unfreakingreal.

    Lack of notes my ass. Losing sight of a speeding vehicle while trying to control your own for split seconds. What, like during those split seconds the kid slowed down to a nice 50 kmh? Please...

    "At the end of the day, we brought the driver home safely and no one was killed that night," he said. "We put a lot of officers on our roads on those long weekends and our concern is that no one gets hurt ... The courts have their own job to do and it's a tough one."

    No one was killed that night but how about next time this little snot goes out cruising? Now that he knows daddy and his lawyer can find the loopholes as stupid as this there is no stopping him from pushing the limits again. If he had killed someone would the result be the same?

    The "lost sight" excuse is the loophole where the defense could argue that the officer mistook one car for another. It sounds stupid on an empty road, late at night but it's possible on a busy freeway.

    I will admit, I did 200KMPH in a rental car once...it was in the middle of nowhere in Nevada...I was stupid and it was scary. Wouldn't do it again. But I knew that if I got caught I was to be arrested.

    But this kid is spoiled!
