Quebec must realize that this country does not revolve around them, for decades the west has been at the mercy of Ontario and Quebec politically, now that the time has come to re-distrubute seats and Quebec loses it automatically becomes a "unity" crises....F@#$ off already!

Makes sense Stokes. It explains too, why Cretien and the others kept the West's seat count so low. The pandering to Quebec will never cease, until the the Bloc runs candidates outside Quebec so they can get the majority they so richly deserve. Then the Bloc will choke, and not separate. Again. Then we can finally close that door for good.

well, not that I value iggy's opinion however, it does go to show just how entrenched this idea is. Since the west is the only spots in the nation GAINING in population while Qc in particular is loosing people, it is only fair to re-visit the MP seat distribution.

I think Iggy is just making mouth noises to gauge how many people are still listening.

"It's clear that when the population increases in a province, there must be a change in the distribution of seats, but we must also maintain a good balance with Quebec," said Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff

First part makes sense, not the second.

It's clear that when the population increases in a province, there must be a change in the distribution of seats, but we must also maintain a good balance with Quebec," said Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff at a news conference yesterday. "We cannot play partisan games with this, because it national unity of the country."

The only guy playing partisan games is Lord Ig himself. Would he deny proper representation to people in Alberta and BC just because it reduces Quebec's relatively in the HofC? Yes, I guess he would. This guys just gets worse and worse every time he opens his yap. 8O

Logical cause their not going to get support from Alberta. He'd expect to the same for areas where liberal population is growing like Brampton and Vaughn.

Just another example to show that he is playing partisan games.

Is not Harper in Oils back pocket so I would see the seat going to Alberta , course Quebec City wants a new arena and will probably get federal money for it. You have to buy them Quebec if you want power in this country .
