The Harper government spent over $100,000 staging a one-hour event in June to deliver an update on its efforts to help the recession-ravaged economy.

Pretty cheap by standards of such events actually...

$100,000 for staging a one-hour event is cheap? I wish I could live your lifestyle if you consider that to be cheap.

$100,000 for such an event (even if it was only 1 hour long) is relatively cheap. I'm sure you and I could have put together something less costly, but it probably would have looked half-assed.

Ask any major corporation what they pay for something similar and I think you'd be floored by how much things like this cost. I've helped do some event planning for some of the companies I've worked for and the amount of invoices always staggered me, but I was always told it is 'the cost of doing business'.
