The federal Liberals are objecting to a series of taxpayer-funded cheques which have been presented to members of the public bearing the Conservative party logo -- a partisan branding that violates Ottawa's corporate identity program.

This is tantamount to the GG refering to herself as the head of state!

An oversight and no big deal, in otherwords. Call them out, they'll correct it, then lets move on to stuff that matters.

This is improper but we don't get photo-ops of Liberals handing out cheques...I wonder why? Maybe because they'd rather not have anyone know about it?

The sponsorship program was handled a little less publicly. The Liberals clearly did not want the public to know about the large amounts of cash given to Liberal PR firms for doing nothing.

But this isn't about the Liberals now is it.

Focus Ahkenaten, focus on who it is that's been caught with their hands in the tax payers cookie jar..

Uh what? Howzabout you follow your own advice and focus...just who has been 'caught' with their hand in the cookie jar this time? Nobody. This sin't about the money it's about the logo.

I can smell a partisan close-minded flamer from 1000km away -- and you're it. Welcome to Ignoresville. I'm sure someone else will take you up on your juvenile game.

Problem: Can't offer a reasonable defense for the inexcuseable?

Solution: Put fingers in ears, sing lalalalal I can't hear you while running away instead of addressing and tackling the problem head on.

Wow. Are you ever 'not smart'.

"offer a reasonable defense for the inexcuseable"?

Dude I admitted it was improper on my first post on the subject, remember? I have no interest in defending it, remember? That was like 3 whole posts ago. lol.

That's not putting my fingers in my ears -- that's what people like you do. Heck you don't even know the details of the story. You thought this was about improper use of tax dollars, remember? In your mad rush to continue a long dead flame war with me you are making a fool of yourself.

Dude whatever. A moment ago you called it 'improper use'...the use of the money is perfectly fine, (that is, the money the cheque represents, not the money for the logo -- nice save though ), it's the logo that is improper. If that's what you mean then as I stated: I already denouced it. You however could not care less. This is just your personal vendetta and it's making you look silly.

What it is is crass political maneuvering by the Conservative government abusing the tax dollars of Canadians.

How's about Harper show some accountability for a change.

That is what he promised us all and the number one reason why he was elected to begin with right?

So you voted Tory in 3 general elections? Really?

And whose LOGO is being used for advertising on the money being handed out?

Again, you really are a Tory voter? Really? Honestly?

    Candidates.

Rick Johnson came close last time. Rhondo Thomas deserved a better fate.
Chris Alexander will win this next election as long as the brain trust puts some effort into securing the riding.

But I'm more in tune with the Randy Hillier's of this country.

Sooo...you won't be voting Conservative again then we can presume?

Ahkanten, I'll continue to vote for the Conservatives in Ontario but I'm with the machiavellis and of this country and will not cast another vote for our leftard PM.

So then it was this incident that sent you over the edge or some other?

The reason I ask is you make some pretty lofty character assumptions about both yourself and myself based on the fact that I look at this incident and merely acknowledge that's it's wrong and roll my eyes. Being over 40 and understanding that the politics is BS on this level; yes it was wrong, I already said that, it was crass and they're "not going to get away with it". But ultimately I understand it to be what it is. A gaff.

You don't honestly meant to suggest that since I'm satisfied with the job the CPC has been doing so far, in the light of the current situation, I should just (what?) vote for someone else or not vote at all do you? I am puzzled why all of a sudden I should cut off my nose to spite my face over an issue like this that I know full well I've seen a hundred of when I used to vote Liberal, or for that matter last time I voted Conservative, or for that matter how I know it will be if I ever live to see the NDP in office.

I mean I take it federally you're not going to vote at all? Or are you going to vote Liberal even though you don't like 'em? Or NDP? Either way no matter which you choose, (since non-participation is not a strategy or a punishment), you have little reason to bark at me about, 'putting my fingers in my ears', or civic responsibility or holding a political party accountable, or giving them a 'free pass', since you're not achieving any more than a change of direction for my personal vote would.

If you don't vote then you're not a pundit you're just a curmudgeon.

    * the only factor to consider in politics from the voter perspective.
