VANCOUVER -- A brain tumour has forced Olympic medallist Deidra Dionne to retire from freestyle skiing, cutting short a career that already saw the aerialist battle back from a broken neck.

Very likely not a big name for most, but those of us that know her, knew there was something special about her when she scored a sponsorship with a large US multi-national company as one of her main sponsors leading up to her bronze medal in Salt Lake City in 2002. Not to many Canadian athletes can say they?ve done that.
