The federal government filed court documents Monday claiming a Canadian woman, stranded in Kenya for three months and now suing Ottawa, gave contradictory statements that led consular officials to believe she was an impostor and not the proper owner of th
In one interview with the Canadian High Commission in Nairobi, Mohamud indicated she was a student at Humber College and was studying fashion design. But in another interview, she denied it and said she was only thinking about going to school at Seneca College.
The documents allege she lacked knowledge about Toronto, where she had lived for 10 years. She couldn't name Lake Ontario, and even though she took public transit to work, she had trouble explaining the acronym TTC, the Toronto Transit Commission.
She didn't know that the acronym for her Toronto workplace, ATS, stood for Andlauer Transportation Services. She also couldn't name the current or previous prime minister and was unable to describe in any detail how she obtained her driver's licence.
I'm glad they didn't ask anything difficult - like how many years has it been since the Leafs won the Stanley Cup.
Its interesting how the story changes. The CBC was reporting in August that the only reasoned she was detained was because her lips didn't match the ones on her passport photo.

I can safely say that if I had been the officials doing the interviews, I would have done the same.
It's looking more and more like someone tried to fly on her passport, got turned away and then she came back later. I don't believe that she was put in jail and held there. I suspect there was a bait & switch going on.

She’s not the only one that was supposedly ‘discriminated’ against with lots of unanswered questions still out there.
Here’s an interesting article from the Globe about the guy who was ‘stranded’ in Sudan as he was on the UN ‘no fly’ list as a suspected terrorist and now he’s suing our government for $27 million. Some excerpts:
"While Abousfian Abdelrazik continues to flatly deny ever having been in Afghanistan or Chechnya, he openly admits to a long spree of travel in the 1990s that included destinations such as Pakistan, Bosnia and Georgia that were hot spots of Islamic militancy, as well as places of widespread suffering.
In every case, including places never included in the long list of accusations against him, Mr. Abdelrazik insists he was only involved in humanitarian and religious work.
Similarly, Mr. Abdelrazik says he was in Pakistan, including Peshawar, gateway to the Taliban heartland of Kandahar in Afghanistan where the Taliban ruled in the late 1990s, but only to study. He denies crossing into Afghanistan or attending any extremist training camps. “I've never held a gun,” he said, “I am not a military person.”
At the same time, Mr. Abdelrazik acknowledges he has no evidence, no way of proving or documenting his version of his globetrotting. He has no letters, no postcards, no pictures, no gifts, souvenirs, and – he says – no one who can back up the accounts of his travels.
But the ambiguity remains. He won't, for instance, say what he was doing, nor who funded him, nor name which – if any – organization he worked with during his humanitarian travels.
When asked for details about which charities he worked for, how he funded his travel or proof of the trips, he replied testily. “I don't want to talk about it,” a line he uses repeatedly when asked about the backing for his humanitarian work."
It's clear that this is another media smear. I posted an article on how the Abdelrazik case started off in the Liberal government but it suddenly spun into "Harper hates black people". I guess all the logic and reason vanishes when the other party takes over. Pretty sickening when politics trumps security.. and they wonder why voters are cynical.

It's like the way they are all over those 'poor' Algerian and Moroccon guys (who are suspected terrorists) that were held on security certificates that go back to the Chretien/Martin governments.
The media would have us believe that all these wankers who are either part of terrorist organisations or are trying to blag their way into Canada are just 'innocent victims' of the CPC's 'racist policies'.
Why is our media so lefty and so biased for these arse-oles and so against our government?
Gigs is right, these accusations were all over the CBC, CTV and the Toronto Star for days. Now they are all running away from those claims, much like many of the posters on this forum have suddenly gone quiet.
They are all so busy digging up dirt on the Tories and much less concerned about those enemies of our country that we have allowed in to Canada.
Maybe these guys can get the terrorist Sikh guy who wants to be a lawyer take up their cases?
If there's anything that drives voter cynicism it's crap like this. Wrong is wrong and the media should call these people out instead of cheerleading for them.

The Canadian media takes these wankers sobs stories at face value and rarely checks up on them before they blitz the airwaves with articles that try and show our government in the worst possible light.
They are the unelected and unofficial opposition to Harper and the Tories. They are never held accountable for printing lies and utter crap and if it was up to them we would have even more Islamic terrorists coming over to sue the Feds.

I would like to hear that explanation? Is it the humidity in Kenya or the lack of?

When this story broke it was on the front page of the CBC website for a week.
Take a look at the CBC site, amazing how far it's pushed to the back .
Good digging.
