Overnight, plates reading "Marc Bureau: Expiration November 2009" were attached to some of the police service's fleet by members of the city's police force. Gatineau's municipal election will take place on Nov. 1.

It's improper, and likely illegal, to use official cars to make a statement in a labor dispute. Why does the Department not just remove the plates?

    Way to go, union.
I guess some piggies really are more equal than others.

Actually they have been using the cruisers to make statements since i moved out here. All cruisers have signs in the back windows with comments about the work action. This is on top of officers refusing to wear their uniform pants and opting for jeans or camouflage pants (which is of tne purple camo design). Its really the only form of protest they can make since they can't strike i guess. I don't know the details of the wage dispute other than the fat the force is pretty much the worst paid in the region and "from what i Hear" it was not a large raise.

Not saying I agree, just giving some more background.

And no, the Mayor is no the chief of police.

They have badges of rank that look like they are airline stewards and those brown dress uniforms that the Surete have, vomit.....

But it does make sure that they stand out at a police parade. They don't look like anybody else in Canada. The rest of the Canadian cops look like the brothers and sisters they all are.

    Vive la New France libre!

This is in Quebec. You are free to put any front plate on you want. The two most popular:, "Je t'aime ma femme" and "Je t'aime ta femme".
