As a "basic training instructor," one has to start first when the out of shape recruit enters the recruiting office. Secondly, if (which they are)the recruits are sent to basic training to do a very, very basic physical test. If they fail this, they are placed on active training or cease training. While placed on "platoons" to train they are slowly put in physical shape. Could more be done to get them in better shape/quicker...yes...but instructor hands are tied. Lets not talk about the bias male/female physical tests or how the standard should be much much higher.

The standards change all the time, I dont know what it is like this week but 2 months ago if you showed up to basic and couldnt pass a fitness test you were put on WTF (warrior fitness training). This was far from; gradually increasing their physical fitness. The major issue is that all the best instructors/staff are usually sent on tour while the rest stay in Canada and push as many as they can through training.
I have a slight bias on my opinion, while I am sure there are a few excellent instructors in Saint Jean left, I dont know of any.

Fact: I just came back from Afghanistan.
Fact: 4 out of 7 on my GMTI course just came back from Afghanistan.
Fact: I'm sure myself and the others would go back in a second.
Fact: Many of those over there now or before are Militia or back for their 2nd or 3rd tours.

So what are you saying?
a. You would make a good basic instructor; or
b. You are infact junk, therefore his point about the best being deployed is not true?

Apparently, I was commenting on how relax it is here at CFLRS, comparing that to someone else's comment. Maybe I expressed myelf incorrectly, but I'm not going to get in a pissing contest about this...(I don't have as much free time on my hands as some people who posts comments). I'm trying to improve my writing skills, so thanks nothing. Some of us are in Saint Jean teaching (recruits) like myself. Many of us have done tours over in Afghanistan. . So to answer some questions: 1. I think I'm a pretty good instructor (along with all those that have been over in Afghanistan; including those that have not done a tour); 2. I'm 100% behind those that over there now being the best; and those that have been over there, being the best and those going over are the best.
Pretty sure I'm not junk...just serving my country and using whatever spare time I have to express myself...I'm for our military and it happes that some of us were sent to CFLRS (Canadian Forces Learning Recruit School) for those who sit around on they behinds all day.
I did my GMTI in St Jean about three years back. I was standing in line at the ATM behind a young recruit on crutches. I asked how he had injured his foot, and he said it was from drill.
Trying to remember if we had recuits in Cornwallis on critches from drill... I don't think so.
ANyway, the instructors I saw while on my course seemed good. The one thing that got my attention was that the instructers for my course had been there for some eigh years or so... that floored me.
In the navy, we'd call guys who don't go to sea "barrack stanchions"...
PS. Looks like my next posting might be Basic Officer Training CSM or something along those lines.

Cornwallis in February. I recall thinking that was un-fun, to say the least.

It wasn't any better in March!
