Somalia doesn't have control over its borders.

But African countries need to balls up and make sure Americans aren't using them as staging grounds for self interests.

Kudos to Nigeria and practically all of west Africa for turning the west away when asked if they could places bases in the area.

Not the same can be said from Botswana which is most likely where the helicopters flew from.

But Kudo's to Nigeria for selling out to the Chinese?
..and kudo's to Mozambique for also selling out to the Chinese.

They don't ask those embarassing civil rights questions when they flood cheap arms to dictators.

Well, seeing as they are already trying to avenge no end of past alleged transgressions against them, I don't see how this one will substanitally add to the list.

They fear such attacks by foreign forces may help to fuel extremism, instead of combating it, our correspondent says.

Yes, because Somalia is such a shining example of political moderation in today's turbulent world.

    Mission accomplished. Well done USA/France.

American interests in that region are usually aligned with the national interests of the civilized countries in the region. Some of those African nations, like South Africa and Kenya, are actually exploring closer relations with the USA due to expanding Chinese influence in Angola, Sudan, and Somalia.

"The raid led to protests by villagers and critics say it had little effect on al-Shabab's capabilities."

Well this surely had an effect.
