"These losses, in particular of a senior officer, will have a devastating impact upon the morale not only of the soldiers serving in Afghanistan but the military families all across Canada," Drapeau said Tuesday on CTV's Canada AM.

What a jackass, fuck the troops, apparently another "expert" who did fuck all for his subordinates while he served but tow the company line to get ahead in the officer social stratosphere, who now that he is retired can run his lips from his soapbox.

This Drapeau guy is a bit of a knob, wasn't he a lawyer?

But my opinion on the mission is changing. I don't think Afghanistan is worth it any longer.

The stone age is firmly entrenched there and they seem to like it.

    Time to leave.

A lawyer and an officer, can it get any worse?

WTF did he ever do when he was in?

CTV are shite for this kind of thing, they always drag that wanker, Steven Staples on as a 'military expert'. He runs a left-wing think tank and his military experiences stretches to owning the boxed set of 'Band of Brothers'.

I rarely watch CTV anymore, even Question Period is a load of crap these days.

Obviously he hasn't talked to any of the troops if he think their morale is falling.

Obviously one of those officers who avoided us "lowly NCMs" because he was too good for that, yet still felt he knew what the hell was going on at our level.

I think this is all just a misunderstanding. He meant to say ....NATO troops are not whining in Afghanistan. There. That makes a lot more sense and it's closer to the truth.

Keep in mind that the demand for an ex-forces officer who parrots the forces line won't get called but someone that craps out voice bites that follow the media's agenda will be popular.

Well of course, given that he spouts what the media want to show and not the truth.
I think that the mission should end as scheduled and leave it at that, if the rest of NATO and the Afghans can't get their shit together by then oh well we tried (and did more good than anyone), our boys and girls cretainly don't need to keep dying over there anymore.

I agree. Canada alone cannot save Afghanistan and Canada alone isn't NATO. If NATO can't get it's shit together without Canada, I question why we take part.

That is the most disrespectful fucking comment that anyone could make...Any and All losses are devastating. WTF kind of comment is that? :?

    Thanks for highlighting that PEN

I've seen Drapeau on a few things. He came across as an arrogant wanker who was most likely despised by any he tried to 'lead'. For a retired senior officer, he isn't a friend of the CF.

    He's no Lew McKenzie.

As a retired officer of the CF doesn't the non-disclosure agreement still prevent him from making such politically oriented statements?
