Many conservatives enraged over Obama school speech

The White House found itself on the defensive Friday over what would ordinarily be considered the most uncontroversial of events: a back-to-school speech to the nation's children.

The right wing in the US is pissing away what's left of it's credibility over this.

I mean seriously losing it's mind. The last four presidents have done largely the same thing going back to Reagan and no one gave a toss then.

The fact that so many opposed to this are saying this is Socialism shows just how necessary Obama's message to study hard really is because this is born purely out of ignorance and nothing else.

Is it just me or are Republicans and their supporters getting more irrational by the minute?
I mean geez, they're stepping into paranoid schizophrenic territory.

Everybody is seeing it. Somehow they think they can run things, if they just act crazy enough. Unfortunately it seems to be working somewhat as the Democrats keep trying to get 2 Party consensus on Policy/Programs. The Republicans have no interest in it though.

Sign Of The Agonizing Slow Death Of The American Mind #2538: a speech by the President to schoolclasses is no longer seen as a special moment for the kids to remember but instead is spun into another fear-mongering and Klan-hate filled moment of the "Marxist-Socialist-Fascist Apocalypse".

America, we hardly knew ye. Just be sure, that when you've finally finished burning your country right down to the ground, that you try to make the next one better and just a tad less nutty. Kthxbai.

I might be concerned with the speech if it covered subjects other than education. It certainly isn't the President's place to use the public school environment to push for agenda items. That said, I don't see that happening here, so I am not sure what the problem is.

I don't think so. This has been happening all the time it is the effect of blogs, twitter and 24 hr news that echos it that mountains get built out of mole hills. The fact is the GOP are simply 'testing the fence' because they have no issue or platform themselves and there is no downside for them. None of this will stick on any member of the GOP so they have nothing to lose by doing this to see what sort of traction it will get and if it is a dud, oh well they move on to the next 'crisis' till they find something that resonates and they run with it. Every political party does this to some extent and normally it gets ignored and forgotten but the echo chamber of the news cycle that thrives on conflict blows stuff like this way out of proportion because it lacks and plausible objectivity other then to feed itself by driving up ratings. Everyone like to see a good fight, this just isn't it.

I think it has more to do with the context of the speech. Something about how we could better serve Obama! Sound kinda Hitler youthish

Oh please. What's next? Obama gives the troops a boiler-plate "god bless america" speech and the Repubs will say the troops can go to youtube if they want to hear "liberal propaganda" from democrats.

Apparently, its an outrageous infringement on freedom for any Democrat to speak to the public, even if they are President.

Repubs are waging a guerilla war, they've lost the House, the Senate, and the Presidencey but because of the US political system and environment they still have a stong base that will support them no matter what. If Limbaugh says the moon is made of green cheese, 50% will believe that no matter what "socialist" evidence is presented to contradict that. That means they can rally their faithful to be "outraged" at will and over nothing.

Make no mistake about it, America is nearing the point of no return on becoming a collapsed and failed empire.

That's what they've all said, from Ancient Egypt right up to modern times. "Da Nile" ain't just an Egyptian river.

If you look at the past, all empires collapsed at one point, no matter how powerful and large they were.
Seems that everything that has a beginning has an end.
So yes, possible/probably they will, although how close they are is anybody's guess.
