There is no excuse for raping and killing civilians. No matter where you are, or under any circumstances. Some of them sentenced to 110 years but have a chance to be out in 7? Is that supposed to be justice? What is going on with the judicial systems in both our countries? It's time for a revamping of our justice system to bring it closer in line to societal values, and farther away from protecting convicted criminal's rights.

Wow I just love his justification for what he did. It's all the fault of the army and the war. I had no idea the US army trained its soldiers to rape people

I don't think its about the judicial system per se. If this crime had been perpetrated in America against an American family, he would have fried. Especially if there were a cross-racial component to it.

But because US culture still has a mistrust of Arab "Hajis" and a high reverence for soldiers, there is hestiation to apply the same standards.

Not really. Death sentences have to be a choice that's unanimous by a jury, and even one person against the death penalty for any reason can end that, even if it is for personal reasons.

There was no "Cross-racial" component to it at all. If a former soldier is using his service as some excuse for what he did, you really think that jury would hold him in the same regard as the rest of the military? So unless you think those twelve jurists were "racist" in some way, which seems to be your implication, I don't see how you can justify your opinion.

Three who went to the family's home with Green received lengthy sentences up to 110 years but will become eligible for parole in seven years.

Strange. After reading this I figured they'd been tried in Canada.

To put it mildly it's a travesty of justice.

"He realizes now that his actions were wrong."

Oh, up until then, he thought raping and murdering a child was just a-hunky dorey.

Eleigble for parole in seven years. Not surprsing--Iraqis don't count as quite human in the American justice system.

Hope this dude gets a good raping in prison. This is kind of thing that makes me lean towards the death penalty. I mean if you admit it... well... then buh bye.

I highly doubt he'll qualify for parole. Although its amazing the options even there.
