I must compliment the Canadian secuity for uncovering this plot and taking the team out before they had the opportunity to carry thing out. A lot of people would be killed and maimed.

Yes Mr Obama and Ms Napolitano Canadian security knows what they are doing so easy up on theses border restrictions. They tick me off let alone a Canadian.

Let's see...help to build bombs the have the potential to kill and maim hundreds of Canadians, with total disregard for anyone else's rights. Gets caught red-handed, waits 3 years in jail for the trial(gets 7 years credit time served) then possibly will get out in 2 to 3 years due to early parole. IS THIS JUDICIAL SYSTEM TOTALLY WHACKED? You have got to be kidding me. This terrorist scumbag is getting away with only 14 years, of which he may serve only 5? I don't believe this! I think it's time we elected judges based on their performance against crime. The law is an ass!

He'll be out in two years, if he wasn't born here he should be deported after he does his time.

I don't know how many times I've said it before but.....welcome to the Canadian judicial system in the 21st century......it is totally whacked.

Credit of 7 years for his 3 years served? Gee someone should have told me in HIgh School that being bad at math would still qualify me to be a judge!

BTW, I believe he is a Can Cit (maybe even born here but not sure) so he can't be deported.

He didn't "Want to destroy Western Civilization" no, just small parts of it.

"I am not a lunatic who is hell-bent on destruction of Western civilization," he told the court."

Then what is he if not a lunatic hell-bent on destroying western civilization? I don't understand why these nuts aren't either immediately deported if not Canadians, or jailed for life after being convicted of any terrorist activities.

So heres the thing future terrorists, domestic (which these were) or foreign will have to weigh now. "Is it worth trying if it will get me what would work out to likely be 5 years in jail?" Many of these guys are willing to kill themselves, not sure these ones were but anyhow, are they really going give a flying truck bomb if they get 5 years in jail? Five years to think about where they went wrong, and do it better next time.

Its not like we have the manpower to follow these yahoos around their entire lives to make sure they are really reformed.

It's a cakewalk for them, compared to the restrictive home environments they must hail from.

Another bonus is they'll all get free university educations, courtesy of us.

Well, with any luck, they'll put him in with the general population and prison justice will prevail

    the diddlers...

My fears confirmed.. 14 years sounds nice, but in reality its a joke.

    3 equals 7
    2 eqauls next 7

It's just stupid the way things are going :(

When his sentence is over deport this pig-f&ucker back to Afganistan via GITMO. We will announce to the the muslim world that he has told us everything his knows about about al-Quada, give him an American medal then turn him loose in taliban country. He will never be heard from again.

Probably be out in less than 2yrs given pre-trial time. Then the bleeding hearts will start howling how he is just a boy and should be allowed to stay here and get an education in chemical engineering. Then he can plot again and pull it off. Christ when are they going to wake up?
