Now, after a frustrating summer of failed Conservative-Liberal negotiations over employment insurance, Ignatieff has good reason to denounce Harper's government as irredeemable. But if, as Ignatieff says, this is a Conservative government without heart, i

The challenge for Ignatieff is to give Canadians equally clear and compelling reasons why the Liberals deserve voter support – and not just why the Conservatives don't. If we have now entered a pre-election period, then it behooves Ignatieff to shift from merely opposing to proposing, by casting the Liberals as a government in waiting rather than an opposition in training.

Best paragraph in the whole thing.

I agree with the editorial and I think it's really too bad too. Should Iggy come out with a platform that is more or less in line with his previously stated convictions then for me he poses a serious challenge to the CPC and there's at least a 50/50 chance i'll vote that direction.

Negative. Don't show anything until an Election is called.

They won't tip their hand until an election is called. With the Conservative penchant for attack ads, the less up front the better.

Now is as good a time as any for the Liberals to show Canadians they are serious – more serious than the Conservatives – about restoring and stabilizing Canada's economy; sustaining the environment; and leading on pensions.

I love this statement, especially after how they "Balanced the Budget" last time they got into power and then to claim that their leading on pensions.

Taking 1/2 of the Military, RCMP and DND employees pension fund, with the proviso that they paid into it so they could withdraw it. Then changing the law so no other corporation or companies could do the same thing.

How about their cutting funding to and off loading health care costs onto the provinces.

It scares the crap out of me to see Iggy saying he can balance the budget without any significant cuts, or tax hikes.

Just who is he gonna rob this time to get his money.

The one place you can be sure it won't be is,..................... the CBC.

The first motion likely to be tabled will be the tax reno rebate as part of the economic stimulus package, lets see if Iggy forces an election over it.

They did state the first chance they get.
