NEW YORK - The bad boy image of motorcycles helped drive sales for decades in North America, thanks partly to Hollywood rebels like James Dean and Marlon Brando or Peter Fonda in "Easy Rider".

    60 mpg on a Harley ?
Wish I had me one of those...

Geoff Crowther, a professor of consumer behavior at the University of Huddersfield business school, blames the downturn on manufacturers who push "high performance, aspirational bikes rather than bikes in the sustainable, low-cost area."

    Bullshit, bikes are toys.

"Absolutely we believe that's coming. In Europe higher fuel costs, more constrained roadway access and much less parking: it's much more practical for motorcycles," said Peter ter Horst, a spokesperson the American Motorcyclist Association.

more BS; considering I pay about 2x price for gas than Canada, and 3-4x the US, I havent seen the bike
    revolution in Europe...

except for those fucking scooters :(

I'm glad you picked this out because I didn't want to be the first...
I spent almost 20 years commuting on bikes from 550 to 1200 and it's a load of crap.
Even if you have a 250 and your gas is less, in BC, your insurance is the same and you still paying for tires that are going to cost some $1200 every 2 years.

Maybe if you ride a scooter down town but anyone else is paying the same as a car and getting the privelage of suffering the weather.

    Wet..Cold.. Expensive.. :-)
