Dany Heatley says that he feels that his role with the Ottawa Senators has been diminished, and that's the biggest reason why he has asked for the team to trade him.
Bla bla bla bla bla..... If he was really a team player, he would be more worried about the TEAM winning than his 'role' on the team...
The most telling about his 'character' was when Brennan asked him if he would relinquish his 'A' if he has to show up to the Sens training camp. He literally refused to answer...

He shouldn't have a say whether or not he keeps it. It's a coaches decision.

He has a say on whether he 'resigns' from being an assistant captain - that was the point of the question. Even if Clouston doesn't take it away, Heatley should have enough class to 'resign' after all that happened.
I don't know what Hartsburg was thinking when he gave the A to Heatley... Many were wondering the same thing...

Considering the guy has no class, it's a stretch to think he'll give it up on his own.

That'd be a great idea if you didn't have to pay him his bloated salary. Remember when New Jersey sent Mogilny to the minors. They interviewed him and he said it was the most fun he'd had playing hockey in years and he loved that they we're still paying him millions.
Even if they tried to send Heatley to the minors, he'd have to clear waivers and I don't think that'd happen. Somebody'd claim him and then the Sen's wouldn't get a thing for him.
The best bet is to keep him playing and hope you can find another sucker to pick his poor attitude and large salary up.

He has a no-movement clause - he can't be sent down to the minors without his consent.
From the sh*t that came out of his mouth in the face-to-face interview(which made him look even more like the selfish SOB he clearly is), he thinks so much of himself that there is no way he'll sit on a BUS for hours to go play hockey. That would be so beneath him
I hope this crap will make GMs very very careful in giving NMC to players. I won't hold my breath though

Well...from now on GMs need to rethink what clauses get included in contracts. Ask ex-Leaf GM John Ferguson about no-trade clauses and how that handcuffs a team.
This is how the Ed. Sun story started in todays paper.
He is who we thought he was
Now it's official.
In his own words, Dany Heatley has confirmed there are no hidden plots and that he is, indeed, the validated self-serving selfish jerk, authenticated me-me-me man with the astonishing sense of entitlement, certified coach killer and confirmed cancer he's been painted to be.
From what people are saying, he could have been welcomed back in Ottawa, but after that pathetic display of selfishness yesterday, he needs to be traded ASAP now.
"DerbyX" said Shhhh. They might trade him to Toronto.
Burke would never take a player like that. As much as an arrogant prick as he may be (Burke) he does have integrity and has said he'd never even consider it.

It's too bad he can't be sent somewhere to rot.
